VoIP Phone
With bandwidth and internet speeds increasing, the use of VoIP Phone is becoming a popular alternative to the ordinary phone. However, many people still do not know what VoIP Phone is, despite it growing popularity.
VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. On the front-end, the appearance of a Voice Over Internet Protocol Phone all looks the same as an ordinary phone. It connects to a VoIP Adapter. You can have a handset with numbers to press to dial out, but on the back-end, the technology is different. Rather than a telephone line that connects straight into the wall socket, the telephone line connects into a box, much like a pay TV or digital TV which requires a box to connect in to. The box then has another connection to your internet connection. VoIP Phone requires fast internet connection; otherwise there may be issues with call quality and VoIP Service. Hence, the faster the connection, the better the call quality.
When you maker a call from a Voice Over Internet Protocol phone, your telephone conversation is converted into digital signals and then sent across via the internet. The digital signals are then recompiled on the other end back into the telephone conversation. This is exactly how the internet works, packets send across the internet. When you browse the internet or download files, you are sending packet request and then packets are send back to your browser with the information you are after. When downloading big files from the internet, you are waiting for all the packets to come back to you before you can access your downloaded file. With Voice Over Internet Protocol Phone, the packets being sent are usually bigger then as if you were browsing the internet, as a result a fast internet connection is recommended. No matter where you call, local or international, the cost is the same with VoIP Phone as it travels via the internet. That is why many individuals and businesses are switching to VoIP Phones as it is a much cheaper alternative then normal phone.
