VoIP System or Voice Over Internet Protocol systems is becoming increasingly popular alternative to the traditional telephone based system. The system allows you to conduct you telephone conversations via the internet rather than the telephone network, hence greatly reducing the cost of a call, especially to those overseas.

The VoIP System comes in many forms, from simple software installed on a PC which can then act as a VoIP Phone right up to PBX systems which can replace a company's entire PABX phone system. Many companies, small and large, have made the move or are beginning to make the move to VoIP Systems because of a number of significance benefits and advantages it has over the traditional telephone network.

The first advantage of VoIP System would be cost reduction of telephone communication. If VoIP is set up to take place between 2 computers, then the cost is virtually free as it uses you current internet bandwidth. If you have multiple offices around the world, it can be all tied together as one large office and you also eliminate the cost of long distance calls. This also allows flexibility of your staff to work from home (or mobile with laptop) if necessary and still be contactable as if they were in the office. All that is required is a VoIP Phone connected to the PC/laptop or even easier, the installation of VoIP software on the home PC/laptop. Another advantage of the system is the reduction in infrastructure cost as there is no need to physically run telephone lines in the office or installing a PABX systems for larger companies. Some VoIP PBX systems are not only cheaper but also contain more features than the traditional PABX system too. This leads onto the last advantage of these systems, special advanced features. Some features include call forwarding, call waiting, three way calling, voice messages sent to email, displaying call history and so on.

As it can be seen, there are many benefits of VoIP systems and it won't be long now until VoIP becomes the key telecommunications medium for many individuals and business.
